Lisa grew up in Monroe County, Georgia, and graduated from Mary Persons High School in 1998.  She then attended the University of Georgia, where she graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in English in 2002.  She later attended Middle Georgia University for her Bachelors of Science in Nursing and Georgia College and State University for her Masters in Nursing.  She has worked at Navicent and at Monroe County Hospitals and was a Nurse Practitioner with several Departments of Public Health in under-served areas.
